I'm Back!

I started this blog nearly 2 years ago now, with full intentions of keeping it going throughout my time as an au pair. Two years later and I've only posted twice...... Now that myself and pretty much everyone else in the world is in quarantine/lockdown, I have plenty of time to get my blog back up and running again! I have a few ideas for things I would like to post, but if there is anything specific that you would like information or advice on as a current, future or prospective au pair please let me know! I thought I'd use this post as a bit of an update on what my experience has been over the past two years. I matched with an amazing family in New Jersey at the beginning of 2018. Why did I decide to be an au pair?

Hello! As promised, this post is about why I decided to be an au pair. I have always wanted to visit America, and initially I was looking into the CampAmerica program. I had just started sixth form college at the time, and a lot of other students were talking about CampAmerica, and I was intrigued. However when I began to research the program, I came across another program to be an au pair in the states for a year. As I looked more into the possibility I just knew that this program was for me. So, I read through the requirements. I fit the age range (18-25), I hold a British passport and a full UK driving license. I have more than the required childcare experience - I have been babysitting regularly for multiple different families with children of different ages since I turned 16. All that said, I was also fully aware that I would be half way across the world living with a family who I most likely will have only spoken to over Skype. Introducing Me

Hello! My name is Jodie, I am 19 years old and I am from the UK. As of September this year I will be working as an au pair in America, and I couldn't be more excited. Leading up to this adventure, I have found myself turning to the internet more times than I can count for advice and tips for everything from getting through the airport on my own to meeting my host family for the first time. So, since I have found blogposts and youtube videos so helpful over the last year, I thought why not share my own advice and experience! I have a few post ideas lined up which I will be publishing soon (for example tips on saving money, and how to get through an interview with a potential host family), but if anyone has anything in particular they would like advice on, or that they just want to hear my experiences with, please feel free to let me know in the comments.
